Well, yet another crazy week has gone by. So many things have happened. I´ll write summaries of my favorite parts.
TEMPLE IN MEXICO CITY
Holy cow the temple in Mexico City is ridiculous. It is one of the biggest in the world. It was all in Spanish, but I still felt super great and really happy the whole time I was there. I´m so happy I got to go
DOUGHNUTS FROM FAMILY
My family sent me a dozen doughnuts through missionary mail. Holy cow I don't think I´ve ever been as happy in my whole life to eat a doughnut. It made me, and 11 other missionaries so so happy. I am blessed to have a family like I have and I would not trade them for anything in the whole world.
SOUNDS FROM MY APARTMENT
My companion and I like to play the "what was that sound" game at night in our apartment. For anyone that has ever spent the night in Mexico City, I don't think anyone ever sleeps here. We here buses, trucks, people yelling weird spanish words into megaphones, fireworks, and the most exciting, gunshots. The other night we heard six gunshots right outside the MTC wall at around 11 at night. Five minutes later we heard a bunch of police sirens. Crazy stuff happens here. Mom if you are reading this I promise I am safe. The MTC has 20 foot tall walls with razor wire on top, and guards patrol the walls every night. I'm all good.
FOURTH OF JULY
Ok for anyone that knows me pretty good, I love America more than almost anything. I sang the national anthem 16 times, and I made sure everything I wore was patriotic colors. They served apple pie and hamburgers for lunch (yeah I know super American). I drew a gigantic picture of the American flag on our blackboard, and I got really sad because I didn´t get to see fireworks.
HOW A LATINO BROKE MY HEART
So for those of you that don´t know, one of the weird things that missionaries do is trade ties with other missionaries. Our Mexican roomates that we love so much left for their missions the other day, and before they left they wanted to trade ties with us. Elder Martinez tried to give my companion and I his favorite ties, and we told him that we weren´t gonna take his favorite ties. Later that night he asked me to borrow a copy of a spanish to english dictionary so he could learn some english words for the airport. The next morning my companion and I found a note, written in super broken english with his two favorite ties. He told us all about how he loved us so much and he knew we were going to be good missionaries so we deserved good ties. The kidness of some people is crazy. We should all try and be like Elder Martinez.
Anyways, this week has been the best week of my life, and I think a lot of the reason why it was that way is because of prayer. I know Heavenly Father loves us so much, and he loves it when we talk to him. He´s always there to help us, so we should try and pray as much as possible, and say thank you for everything because everything we have, Heavenly Father has given us. I love my Heavenly Father so much and I'm so glad that I have the gospel in my life.
Love you guys! Until next thursday,
