11/15/2017 0 Comments Bloody elbows and milagrosWell, I have been here in the internet cafe for 33 minutes of my allotted hour and fifteen, and I already ran out of emails to respond to. The longer I am here, the less and less emails I get on pday. Whatever though. It´s fine.
This week was full of miracles. I´m absolutely loving my companion, my ward, the zone, God is blessing me beyond measure. I feel like I am being useful and helping the work progress. I wanted to tell you guys about a few cool experiences I had during the week. We´ve been doing a ton of service. Our service usually involve picking weeds or moving heavy things, but this week we were able to paint and throw newspapers which was fun. We are teaching a family of Colombians that are really cool. Part of the family are almost never home, so we have been sharing with the mom, Majory and the father, Luis. They are really humble people that want to strengthen their relationship with God. We have been teaching about how to receive an answer. We already taught her about the restauracion and el evangelio de JesuCristo. She just needs to come to church and meet the members. We had a crazy experience with them. We went on Sunday morning to pick them up to come to church at around 9:45am. As we walked into their housing thing (a small closed off passage with about 4 small rooms where a few different families live) we had to pass a group of men that were drunk and yelling swear words. We knocked on the door, but they didn´t answer. We left a bit sad, but went to church and continued the day. We later on found out that the police had come 3 minutes later and arrested the drunk men. We barely missed being there as they showed up. I know Heavenly Father protected us. I know it wasn´t a coincidence. I was also able to attend a baptism in my very first ward in the mission. My companion Elder Neddo had to do the baptismal interview, and was invited back for the baptism. The girl that was baptized is named Jaqueline. She was a reference from an investigator. I have already told you guys the story, but about a year ago. Elder Allred and Elder Castillo were contacting and met two younger kids named Matias and Catalina. I came back with my new companion Elder Marcum and started teaching the family. About 3 or 4 months after the first contact, Matias was baptized. His mom, Roxana is working to be baptized but has to get divorced from her past marriage and remarried. The missionaries were visiting her to help out Matias, and Roxana, the mother, gave them the name of Jaqueline as a reference. The missionaries started teaching her, and just last Sunday she was baptized. It was such a testimony builder to see how some of my efforts have helped contribute to the baptism of two people. Indirect, but I know I helped out. Isn´t it great to know that Heavenly Father put all of the things in line so that could happen? I know it wasn´t a coincidence. A few quick things… We received a reference from Salt Lake. Two sister missionaries called us to give us his information. We have started teaching him and he is golden. We had an old investigator call us out of the blue last night. We got together with him and he told us he wanted to come to church. We´re hype. I biffed it running down a mountain today for pday and made it away with a bloody elbow and knee. I threw ginormous stacks of newspapers for about 2 hours and am dead sore. Honestly I feel great. I feel the spirit. I feel like I´m getting better everyday, I get along great with my companion. What else could I ask for? You guys stay safe! Elder Scott My comp let me send a few pictures that he took. Hope you guys enjoy my sunburned face. LOVE YOU ALL

11/8/2017 0 Comments la semanaI am coming at you from a new sector. I was moved from Los Raulies in El Bosque over to La Cisterna in the largest zone in the mission and assigned as a Zone leader. La Cisterna is located in the Northern part of our mission in the more residential area. From the one day that I've been in our sector, I've noticed that it is a lot different. There aren´t as many people in the street. There isn´t music playing super loud over speakers There are more parks and a ton of families, which is super great. Our ward has the nickname of "El Reino Celestial" because is is such a good ward. It has one of the highest attendances of the mission (90 to 120) and the leadership is amazing.
It was bittersweet to leave Los Raulies. I came to really love the people there. I feel like the more time I have in the mission, the harder it is to leave an area because my Spanish improves and can communicate better and become closer friends with people. It was hard to leave, but at the same time change is good keeps me on my toes. I loved the heck out of that ward, and I worked my brains out. I almost cried leaving. I will miss so many but mostly Paul a youth that is preparing the serve the mission and we helped with reading the Book of Mormon. We became really good friends. I hope that I can see him again someday. I´m feeling very humbled and grateful for the ward and assignment I have right now. I have no excuse to complain and want to work as hard as I can. I think about Samuel and Nephi. The Lord prepares who he calls and he always provides a way to complete his commandments. I just have to put my shoulder to the wheel and push. God looks upon the heart… I don´t have the best Spanish and I´m not the best teacher, but he called me and I´m going to give it everything I´ve got and found out why he wanted me here. I will keep you guys updated about the zone and things with my companion (who by the way also is name Jacob) as I learn more. I love you guys very very much My SD card still won´t let me send pictures. I´m sorry SEAN CONSAGRADOS Elder Scott 11/1/2017 0 Comments November 1st, 2017This week was one of the craziest weeks of my whole entire mission. Wattles and I were not that satisfied with how the last week went when it comes to finding investigators and teaching, so we decided to go all out and try new things to get some new people in our teaching pool. I know that God helped us. We saw some miracles for sure.
My favorite thing that happened was with Ema. The situation of Ema is a bit complicated. She is the mother of a contact that we did. We originally wanted to teach her son, but when we came back for the second appointment, her son had moved to the south of Chile to do a drug rehablitation program. We told Emma a bit about what we did in the door to her house, and she said that she felt like what we had to say was important and that we could come back to tell her more. We came back, went into her house, and started teaching her about God´s plan for her and her family. We testified to her about how living the gospel could help her family be more united and happy, and she started crying. We asked her what was wrong, and she expressed her love and concern for her child and his well being. I love how the gospel makes people worried for the good being of the people they love. I know that the gospel makes the family more united. I know that if we try our best to follow the teachings of Jesus that we will feel more united as a family. I love you guys a bunch! Keep safe this week! Elder Scott 10/25/2017 0 Comments Lugares SantosThis week I wanted to keep it short and simple. I was thinking a lot about the importance of our surroundings this week.
This week we had the chance to meet a lot of new people. We were in a few different homes sharing the gospel with a whole bunch of different people. When it comes to sharing the gospel, it is great every time. Sometimes it is harder then other times because of added variables such as the surroundings or people. Some of the houses are clean, others super dirty, some are quiet, some play super loud music, some have annoying dogs, some smell bad. When we are distracted, it is harder to feel the spirit. I can attest to that. This week we had a lesson in the capilla (church building), a clean environment where there is no loud music, it is clean, organized, etc. During the lesson, I felt great. I was able to feel at peace and I felt the spirit very strongly. This applies to all of us because if we are always in places where we cannot be calm, we will not be able to pay attention to the still small voice of the Spirit. It is important to be in calm environments where we can focus and think and feel the spirit. I invite you to think about your surroundings. Is it a place where the Spirit can be? If not, make changes. It will make your life better. I love you all so so very much Take care of yourselves! Elder Scott 10/18/2017 0 Comments Let the Holy Spirit GuideFamily and friends, I am sorry that I can´t include pictures… something went wacky with my SD card. I'll try and get it fixed ASAP… everyone knows the pictures are the only reason anyone click on these emails anymore. Lol. I wanted to share another miracle that happened this week. The Spirit, or the third member of the Godhead, is an essential part in what we do as missionaries. It's central role is to testify of the Father and Son, and so it is necessary to have it in every single lesson and in every single day. The Spirit is the real teacher, not us. I have been trying to have the Spirit with me guiding me and showing me what to do instead of trusting too much in myself. This week, we had left the house to try to find a few people and all of our plans fell through and we were left without anything planned to do. We tried to pass for a few other people we knew, but nobody was home and nothing was working. I decided to try and offer a prayer with my companion ,Elder Wattles, and ask God to help us know what we had to do. We went into a secluded passageway, and offered a prayer to Heavenly Father asking to be guided to someone that needed the gospel. We finished, sat and thought for a minute and decided to round the corner and see what happened. We rounded the corner and saw a woman outside of her house. We walked up to her, and started talking. She told us that her parents had been baptized in the church, but that she had never arrived to that point. We shared a message about the gospel of Jesus Christ and the importance of following His gospel. The Spirit was so strong. She accepted a return appointment and we are now teaching her. Right after finishing, we went right back to the passage and said another prayer of gratitude. I know Heavenly Father led us to this woman. God can show us where we need to go and what we need to do. If we live worthy of the Spirit, all these things and more will be made known unto us. Look for the guidance of the spirit in your week this week! Love you guys very very much! Take care of yourselves! Elder Scott

The crazy thing though is that all the miracles linked together.
10/4/2017 0 Comments Que te pasa calabazaI loved General Conference!! I watched it all in Spanish. I´ve gotten to the point now that it doesn´t matter. I understood it easily and was able to take notes. I had a really spiritual experience during conference. I was sitting down beside one of the members and it was right before the session started. It was POURING rain outside. A man, roughly dressed (not church clothes) entered the chapel and sat down by himself in the front. I felt like needed to go sit by him and introduce myself. I went over, sat down, asked him his name, and we started talking. His name was Mauricio. He told me that he was homeless and living in a park. He had no where to go during the rain, and had gotten on the bus. After getting on the bus, he told me he had “chosen the wrong bus" and got off because he was lost. He saw the capilla, and was overcome spiritually. He told me he started crying as he remembered that he had been baptized there many years ago. He told me he was passing through a dark moment and was having suicidal thoughts and that he knew that God had led him to the chapel. He told me of all the places he´d ever been to in his life, the church was where he had most felt loved. He watched a whole entire session of conference by my side. I know that he didn´t "choose the wrong bus" but that God had led him to the church so he could help him pass through his hard moment. This week has been full of small victories and spiritual moments like those. Conference motivated me to complete with my missionary duties better than before and be more diligent in contacting people and be more firm in inviting people to come unto Christ. Hermana Inostroza, one of the baptisms that we had planned fell through. Last night I was pretty down. We got home and I just sat down at my desk and thought about all of it for a good 20 minutes without moving. It is hard. It really gets on you. You feel like you did your best to help someone, but they didn´t make case of your counsel and didn´t get anywhere. I think it wasn´t her time. We gave it our best shot, but our job is not a one way affair and she didn´t put in her part. We are going to keep helping her husband, and active member, because he was pretty distraught and even a little bit angry. We testified to her that as soon as she starts to read the Book of Mormon she will understand the importance and want to be baptized. Let´s just hope she can do it. Other than that we have once again, went hard looking for people and have come across some really amazing people on the way. Less actives, people in the street. I´m feeling great. Life is still trucking on. I am trying to be better about giving my companion time to talk and helping him so he can get better, but I´m not a perfect teacher. He is improving a ton very, very fast and I feel as though he were an equal counterpart instead of a person that watches and follows me. Life is amazing, Elder Scott |
