11/15/2017 0 Comments Bloody elbows and milagrosWell, I have been here in the internet cafe for 33 minutes of my allotted hour and fifteen, and I already ran out of emails to respond to. The longer I am here, the less and less emails I get on pday. Whatever though. It´s fine.
This week was full of miracles. I´m absolutely loving my companion, my ward, the zone, God is blessing me beyond measure. I feel like I am being useful and helping the work progress. I wanted to tell you guys about a few cool experiences I had during the week. We´ve been doing a ton of service. Our service usually involve picking weeds or moving heavy things, but this week we were able to paint and throw newspapers which was fun. We are teaching a family of Colombians that are really cool. Part of the family are almost never home, so we have been sharing with the mom, Majory and the father, Luis. They are really humble people that want to strengthen their relationship with God. We have been teaching about how to receive an answer. We already taught her about the restauracion and el evangelio de JesuCristo. She just needs to come to church and meet the members. We had a crazy experience with them. We went on Sunday morning to pick them up to come to church at around 9:45am. As we walked into their housing thing (a small closed off passage with about 4 small rooms where a few different families live) we had to pass a group of men that were drunk and yelling swear words. We knocked on the door, but they didn´t answer. We left a bit sad, but went to church and continued the day. We later on found out that the police had come 3 minutes later and arrested the drunk men. We barely missed being there as they showed up. I know Heavenly Father protected us. I know it wasn´t a coincidence. I was also able to attend a baptism in my very first ward in the mission. My companion Elder Neddo had to do the baptismal interview, and was invited back for the baptism. The girl that was baptized is named Jaqueline. She was a reference from an investigator. I have already told you guys the story, but about a year ago. Elder Allred and Elder Castillo were contacting and met two younger kids named Matias and Catalina. I came back with my new companion Elder Marcum and started teaching the family. About 3 or 4 months after the first contact, Matias was baptized. His mom, Roxana is working to be baptized but has to get divorced from her past marriage and remarried. The missionaries were visiting her to help out Matias, and Roxana, the mother, gave them the name of Jaqueline as a reference. The missionaries started teaching her, and just last Sunday she was baptized. It was such a testimony builder to see how some of my efforts have helped contribute to the baptism of two people. Indirect, but I know I helped out. Isn´t it great to know that Heavenly Father put all of the things in line so that could happen? I know it wasn´t a coincidence. A few quick things… We received a reference from Salt Lake. Two sister missionaries called us to give us his information. We have started teaching him and he is golden. We had an old investigator call us out of the blue last night. We got together with him and he told us he wanted to come to church. We´re hype. I biffed it running down a mountain today for pday and made it away with a bloody elbow and knee. I threw ginormous stacks of newspapers for about 2 hours and am dead sore. Honestly I feel great. I feel the spirit. I feel like I´m getting better everyday, I get along great with my companion. What else could I ask for? You guys stay safe! Elder Scott My comp let me send a few pictures that he took. Hope you guys enjoy my sunburned face. LOVE YOU ALL
