2/8/2017 0 Comments THE PACKANATORThis week our mission was visited by Elder Packer. (The son of Boyd K Packer the apostle)
Myself and about 10 other missionaries were randomly selected to be interviewed by him. My interview was not what I expected. When I got into the room we sat down and chit chatted about how we were doing. He asked me about how I felt in a general sense in the mission, how I felt about speaking the Spanish language, and then he told me that he was asking all of the missionaries things he could talk about in the meeting to improve the mission. I gave him my suggestions, and then he asked if there was anything on my mind that I wanted to talk about with him, and then we talked a little about his mission and ended it. He really has a really special spirit about him. He shared a couple things with me and our mission that I think you all will like. Right after he started the meeting he told us that we were going to take an eight minute break. During the break he wanted us to focus on if our behavior contributed towards a setting where you could feel the Spirit. During the break, all of the missionaries were super reverent and the people that were joking and being loud stuck out like a sore thumb. It really make me think about how I carry myself and behave every single day. Is what I do reverent? Do I act in a way that I can feel the Spirit´s still small voice when I need to? It was a really interesting exercise that I learned a lot from. Before we started the second part of the meeting, one of the missionaries stood up to start the meeting, and Elder Packer told them to sit down and wait another few minutes because we ¨were not ready and the Spirit was not there¨. That exercise also made me think a lot about being ready to do things. I don´t really know how to put it. Just always be reverent and asking yourself if you can feel the Spirit. Other than all that, I loved this week. I think the highlight was teaching a class for the district. Elder Marcum and I taught about adapting to changes and everyone told us they liked it and it made me feel happy to know that we had taught with the Spirit. Here are some random pictures from this week! Love you all! Elder Scott
